Too many women have experienced the impacts of living with gynecological conditions while feeling dismissed and struggling to get care. Women deserve better, and as we collectively challenge outdated norms, we are beginning to see improvement. Still, there’s much more work to be done.
About 31% of women ages 18 to 64 with health coverage said that in the last year, they or a family member received care that their health plan did not cover at all or paid less than expected. In comparison, 26% of men said this, according to a KFF survey.
About 50% of women ages 18 to 64 said they needed mental health services in the last two years, compared to 35% of men, a KFF survey found. This issue is especially prevalent for younger women.
Called the Innovator Community Expansion Initiative, the main goal of the effort is to pinpoint and remove obstacles keeping underrepresented groups, like women, out of the innovation process. The initiative will promote networking and education about the path to commercialization.
The company, Maven, raised funding from investors including Sequoia Capital, Oak HC/FT, 14W, Female Founders Fund and Spring Mountain Capital.
